CALIFORNIA (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — Musician Thomas Dolby, best known for his 1983 hit "She blinded me with science" has returned to music to release a new CD/DVD set and preparing for a tour that will be co-headlined by electronic pioneer & DJ BT.
Dolby, who's real name is Thomas Morgan Robertson, was an early innovator of the synthesizer in the early eighties new wave movement. His most widely-known hit "She blinded me with science" was one of the first songs to be propelled to success by video. Dolby also featured as a set musician with a number of groups, from Def Leppard on Pyromania (As Booker T. Boffin) and gigs with The Thompson Twins, David Bowie and Foreigner.
Dolby then focused on software development, founding Beatnik Inc. in 1993, a software company that developed mobile phone audio file formats such as Polyphonic ringtones, including the now-famous Nokia signature theme. He also established Retro Ringtones LLC, which developed the popular Retrofolio ringtone digital asset management software suite.
Returning to the stage in 2006, Dolby played a number of successful low key dates in California. This led to a DVD covering the first leg of the "Sole Inhabitant Tour 2006" and announced a new disk to be released in 2007. BT (Brian Transeau) will join Dolby, co-headlining for much of the tour. Transeau is a pioneer in the electronic music genre, and widely known as for his innovation in progressive house and trance music. – CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
