BOISE, Idaho — A man wanted on arrest warrants from Canyon, Gem, and Ada Counties for violent crimes, including assaulting his parole officer, was arrested by Caldwell Police on Monday.
45-year-old Norman Ortiz-Perez was wanted by the Idaho Department of Corrections (IDOC) for violently assaulting his parole officer and had recently fled in a vehicle from Canyon County Sheriff Deputies. He had active arrest warrants in Canyon, Gem, and Ada Counties.
The IDOC Fugitive Unit and Metro Violent Crime Task Force discovered that Perez was in a basement apartment in the 900 block of East Grant St. at around 1:00 p.m. on Monday. CPD Swat was called in to arrest him.
After a several hour standoff, according to CPD, negotiators were able to convince Ortiz-Perez to surrender and he was arrested without further incident.
