Man hopped on Twitter to cry! Jets Sauce Gardner denies taking accountability for Bills

With 6 minutes left in the third quarter, the Buffalo Bills were leading the New York Jets 22-6 as Josh Allen arrowed a pass to wide receiver Khalil Shakir. Allen barely missed Jets cornerback Sauce Gardner as Shakir went for an endzone run.

The 2022 second-round pick sidestepped one challenge and covered 15 yards. Then he cut back inside, and teammate and defensive end, Kameron Cline butt-tackled Gardner and fellow corner Brandin Echols out of the way.

Shakir completed an 81-yard touchdown to add six more points to the already-bloated Bills’ total. While Gardner tried his best to get back and throw his body to stop the second-year Buffalo receiver, it was futile. It was just that kind of day, as nothing was going in the Gang Green’s favor. Bills killed off the game with a 50-yard belter from kicker Tyler Bass.

The 23-year-old Gardner might have gotten away with it, but he had to go and open his mouth. After the game, he went for damage control, took to X (formerly Twitter), and tried his best to distance himself from the Shakir TD. He wrote,

Y'all must not know defense if y'all think I'm just allowing a 81 yd TD on that play. Yes, I could've still made a play... We gotta be better.

It blew up more than the game itself, and he later deleted it. Unfortunately, in the age of social media, nothing gets erased permanently. More so when netizens thrive and feed on negativity.

It’s the same scenario this time as well. One commented, “Man hopped on Twitter to cry while his pads are still on.”

It wasn’t the only moment the former Bearcat was in the limelight during the Sunday night game. Staying in the third quarter just 8 minutes before the Shakir TD, Sauce Gardner German suplexed Stefon Diggs right in front of the Bills dugout.

The referees saw the infringement, and he was penalized for unsportsmanlike conduct. Going by the recent flurry of fines by the NFL, it won’t be surprising they slapped one on last season’s best defensive rookie. In the end, he left Orchard Park completing just 2 tackles.
