BOISE, Idaho (CBS2) — A statement from the Idaho Speaker of the House Scott Bedke promises to fight against the Biden administration's "unrelenting acts of federal overreach."
"After President Biden’s visit today, it has become very clear that as Idahoans, we need to step up our efforts to combat the moves this administration continues to make to limit state independence," Bedke said. "The federal vaccination mandate was only the first volley in what appears to be an ongoing assault on how states manage themselves.”
This statement was in response to Biden's visit to Idaho on Monday, as well as Biden's recently announced vaccine mandates.
“To address this immediate need, I am working with Senate Pro-Tempe Chuck Winder to implement working groups to develop possible legislative solutions," Bedke said. His goal is to work with the Committee on Federalism to create "a comprehensive plan to vigorously defend the Idaho values."
The Committee on Federalism is scheduled to meet Sept. 28 in response to this issue.
