Matilda Wormwood (Mara Wilson) is born with telekinetic powers but is constantly made inferior by her parents (Danny DeVito & Rhea Perlman). She goes to school at Crunchem Hall run by the abusive Miss Trunchbull (Pam Ferris) but finds solace in the kind teacher Miss Honey (Embeth Davidtz).
Though there are dark themes explored throughout this film, it ends up being a heartwarming story that continues to charm audiences. In 2013, a stage musical opened on Broadway and ran through 2017.
